Iraqi And US Troops Work To Rebuild Al Nassir School
The elementary school located in the Al Nassir area of Al Buaytha, Iraq has been getting a much-needed rebuild. It was severely damaged in battles in recent years, and it is being rebuilt to help improve the quality of life for both the students and the teachers.
The school features grades 1-6, and it is being repaired to fix the damage that insurgents did before being finally driven out of the area by coalition forces in 2007. As they left the area, they took out their hate and anger wherever they could, and one frequent target has been schools.
The soldiers of 30th Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion, and Company D, have completed much of the repair effort. They were also some of the first soldiers to reach the area when the Coalition first arrived on the scene last year.
With peace and stability returning to the area, a lot of the effort has turned to rebuilding and restoring the different facilities such as schools. The government of Iraq has also been supportive in investing both time and money for supplies to help support the schools. The Gol has sent a representative to the Al Buaytha region to help with the overall transition and rebuilding efforts. The ministry of Education in Iraq has also made commitments of financial support.
Workers from Coalition forces have worked hard to put the finishing touches on the school, in time for students and teachers to get full usage from the school. It is a school that employs about 17 teachers and has nearly 420 school children that attend it.
