4th Platoon Aids Citizens And Villagers
The security situation in the rural area of Afghanistan continues to improve, and the members of the Coalition forces that are based near the Village of Shangar have worked hard to make sure that the security and safety of the village was paramount. As the security has improved, soldiers began to work to reconstruct the Shangar School site. New school equipment was brought in, including desks, blackboards, chairs and other school furniture. The school was heavily damaged during fighting with the Taliban, and the conditions in the local area are now such that true repair and rebuilding can take place.
Members of the 2-503rd Parachute Infantry are based near the village of Shangar, and the 4th platoon of Able Company has largely adopted the school reconstruction project. With their leadership and direction a number of Afghanistan workers and contractors have moved swiftly through the school rebuilding project. As each stage of the project nears completion, the citizens begin to slowly come around more, and it is a work in progress in building and establishing trust.

As the school prepares to be finished, the members of the Parachute Regiment visit the Shangar Afghanistan National Police Station and the Shangar school construction site on a nearly daily basis. Their input has helped the region to get back on a fairly secure footing, and it has helped to establish the different responsibilities for security that the ANP have.
