MNF Training Academy Produces Initial Group Of Policemen
The first graduation class of new Iraqi Policeman have passed the new Academy in Diyala. It is the first graduating class from the coalition sponsored Iraqi police academy. Nearly 413 Iraqi policemen graduated from the Academy on May 13, marking the success of the new training police officer Academy. It is located in Ashraf, Iraq, and it is an extensive police-training course that lasts just over four weeks.
The training that the Iraq police are receiving is absolutely top notch, and has been devised and designed by top Coalition personnel to speak to the needs of the Iraqi Communities “The new training that the Iraqi Police are receiving will continue to help them get the local security under control,†said Sergeant Richard Forbes Watkins, one of the 202nd Military Police officers with the Coalition forces.
This training and Academy program represents a huge step forward for Iraq Security and Iraqi Police services. The Iraqi people are embracing the efforts and learning to trust the Iraqi Security personnel and policemen, as many of the new police officers are former civilian members of the community scant weeks before their training.
The main goals for the Iraqi Police is to be able to fully take over security from the coalition, as the soldiers that were advanced into Iraq for the surge are slowly withdrawn.

The Iraqi police officers are as a group excited, and ready to serve their country. The Iraqi security personnel and new police officers stand ready to jump in when the Coalition forces are withdrawn over the next few months.
