26th Support Battalion Assists In Treating Residents
Medical supplies and direct care were offered to citizens in the Zuwarijat district by coalition troops. The medical teams assisted more than 200 people among the citizens of Zuwarijat and held an all day medial clinic (MEDAV) in the Al Kut region on May 19th. The coalition soldiers worked to give screening exams, and diagnose deeper issues with some of the citizens that were seen.
The medical screening was provided by doctors from the coalition Georgian 1st infantry medical brigade, and in addition a coalition El Salvadoran doctor and dentist were among the doctors that assisted the medical staff from Iraqi Government sources. The patients were given medication, medical bandages and supplies, and treated for basic conditions including colds and flu. Security was provided for by 511th Military Police coalition forces and joint Iraqi Security forces.
As needed medics from the 511th MP company also helped out with the humanitarian mission. It was a successful effort to provide care to citizens and members of the Al Kut region that did not have previous opportunities for health care. It was a successful effort joining together different units of coalition forces, Iraqi Forces, and was supported and aided by efforts of the Sons of Iraq.
“It’s hard to mount a large operation but this one went well,†said Sergeant GoPal Singh, one of the Coalition screening medics.
