Woman of Iraqi descent is a US Marine It was much to the appreciation of the United States that Ms. Babani accredits where she is at today. Now, Ms. Bambini, who came to America in the hopes of starting a new dream, now proudly services as a United States Marine. In an ironic twist of fate, Ms. Babani may be slated to make a trip back to Iraq after having left the war ravished country 10 years ago. This time, however, she will be making the move as an American civilian – as well as an American soldier. She has been stated that she finds it beneficial that she will be going back to Iraq, as she “has more knowledge than what other people” may have. Indeed, this is true, as many of the US Marines that are in the military are American, and not of Iraqi descent. Nonetheless, soldier Babani will have a much better advantage of being an Iraqi going back to her homeland, as she will already know the custom of the land, the language of the people, as well as how to interact with the Iraqi civilians. Ms. Babani is quite pleased that she is able to proudly serve the United States as a Marine, and that she is doing it as a former Iraqi citizen.
