Security Operations Transferred To Iraqi National Police
The military coalition forces have worked hard to train and assist the Iraqi Security Forces with learning security techniques. At first, the Iraqi National forces were pretty badly fixed for overall security forces. Their willingness to learn has helped make the difference however. The Iraqi National Police forces and Iraqi National Army have worked to learn the different methods that effective security utilizes. The challenge has been not only teaching the Iraqi forces how to conduct security operations, but also dealing with the different cultural divisions in the region.
There has been a surprising lack of sectarian violence, considering the different cultural groups that are present. The overall success of the transition from Coalition security to the Iraqi Security Forces has been a gradual issue. The mix of Sunni and Shiite citizens have worked together to grow and learn how to get things done together. Most of the population in the Diwaniyah region is 80 percent Shiite, and the remaining 20 percent is comprised of Sunni citizens.

The focus has been toward recruiting both variations of Iraqi Citizens. This will help give the Police and National Army of Iraq representation of all different kinds of citizens. And it’s precisely the broad representation that allows the Iraqi SF to work well with the Iraqi Community at large. As the coalition prepares withdrawal to pre surge levels, the overall security appears to be safe.
