Coalition Troops Work With Iraqi Security Near Tikrit
The efforts of coalition troops in joint operations between the Iraqi and Coalition soldiers have grown stronger and unified the two different security forces as they have experienced successes together on an increasing basis.
On recent joint operations led by the Iraqi Army on point, 13 insurgents were killed and 14 were captured and taken into custody for interrogation. This has been a successful two week period for joint operations between Iraq and Coalition Soldiers near Tikrit.
One operation near the village of Beijii netted three suspects and bomb making equipment. This mission was began after a number of civilian tips related a bomb making operation that was in full operation in the village, and when soldiers descended on the site, they captured the insurgents actually constructing bombs. One of the men confessed to killing three American soldiers using roadside bombs in the area and the other two captured were implicated in the Tigris River Valley and Mosul bomb IED situations.
There was another operation in the village of Sinjar that netted an individual involved in a number of bombings and running an illegal terrorist court. After testing him for bomb residue he showed positive and was sent to an interrogation center.

In additional operations a Sons of Iraq group killed nine suspected enemy insurgents in a massive firefight south of Tikrit in the Owja area. Iraqi Soldiers working with the Sons of Iraq Group seized a large weapons cache in the area after the firefight was over.
