Supplies Given From Wisconsin Children

Soldiers Distribute Food And Toys To Iraqi Children

The soldiers are common among the townspeople of the Kutimiyah area as they have regular patrols through the village and the region. But the children in the village were pleased when the soldiers from the 3rd Infantry arrived with gifts, toys and supplies from children in the United States.

Children in Germantown, Wisconsin sent toys, school supplies and other small gifts to the children in Iraq, courtesy of the 9th grade literature students in a HS in Wisconsin. The children in Kutimiyah have been without a school for several months as it was destroyed by insurgent action.

The soldiers have been working with community leaders to restore the school but for now the school are being held in a neighborhood house. Soldiers from Battery B, 2nd Platoon, 9th field artillery, 1st battalion and 3rd Infantry delivered the gifts to the Kutimiyah soldiers last week as efforts continue to repair the school.

The soldiers were on patrol one day when they learned of the loss of the school and they immediately began to get involved to help restore the school. Part of the restoration was to put out the word through friends and family of the soldiers, seeking help and assistance in the area of school supplies. The students in Germantown Wisconsin responded with pens, paper, pencils, glue sticks as well as other materials that can be immediately used by the Iraqi Students.
