Coalition Traps Suspected Primary Weapons Smugglers
The success of the Iraqi Security Forces have been growing and the overall situation has been very successful in recent weeks. But occasionally there are still operations and evolutions in the security arena that are mounted by Coalition forces that prove that the top dogs in the security realm are still coalition Soldiers.
Soldiers from Coalition forces led Iraqi Security forces in a raid on weapons and insurgent smugglers. The weapons and insurgents that were captured were supplied by Iran, as weapons that were captured were found to have Iran markings, and several of the insurgents were known members of an Iran affiliated smuggling group. The operation was made to the east of the city of Kut, and is considered a huge success and the enemy insurgents surrendered when they discovered the sheer numbers of the Coalition and Iraqi forces surrounding their position.
Much of the overall security has been being provided by Iraqi security forces, but their training and their professionalism is a tribute to their trainers. The Coalition has done its job, creating a professional group of Iraqi Army soldiers and members of the Iraqi National police. But with large operations, such as the Iran backed fighters captured near Kut, the Coalition is still on the scene, ready and able to jump into action.

In other operations, Iraqi patrols seized several different bomb making operations while their Coalition partners stood by and supervised. The number of bomb making caches has fallen, but there are still several of these type operations being found each week at sites around Iraq.
