Army Chaplain Military Careers

The Army has many different career fields, but none can be as rewarding as serving as an Army Chaplain. If you are a caring and empathetic person who deals with people well, this may be a good job for you. Often the Army chaplain is a person who is already an ordained minister, priest or other religious leader who decides that they wish to serve in the Army. A chaplain is a Servicemember who is a commissioned officer, who serves to care for the emotional and spiritual well being of soldiers, Airmen, and sailors. An Army chaplain can have a parish that consists of as many as 1,500 people, and they are responsible for the specific well-being and support for the personnel in their flock. For this specific reason the Army Chaplain is considered one of the personnel that is critical to the mission of a particular Army facility or Army base. Being a Chaplain requires a special person with a unique calling in life. Serving as an Army Chaplain is a job that reflects how different and diverse the religious community can be. Each Army Chaplain represents a specific religious denomination or religious belief system. The position of Army chaplain supervises the spiritual care and support of the Army and civilian personnel in their parish or group. The Chaplain in the Army observes and oversees support and spiritual care for the personnel in their parish or unit, no matter where the troops are assigned, deployed or stationed. They assist in care of their congregation at their assigned post, performing various rituals, rites and religious ceremonies depending on what the procedure is with their specific faith. The Chaplain that serves in the Army does not participate in weapons training. Many personnel are not aware but the Chaplain Assistant is an enlisted person that is specifically assigned to provide personal support, assistance and protection for the Chaplain. This can include personal security, and they at times may carry a weapon in battlefield situations to provide personal security for the Army Chaplain.
