Community Heals Through Education
After many months of fighting and pitched battles, the area in and around Taji Qada has slowly assumed a peaceful existence. The joint efforts of the Coalition and Iraqi Security forces have successfully chased out the forces of criminals and insurgents, leaving citizens who are vested in seeing their community come back and be prosperous.
Along with the increased security, the efforts of the coalition have been directed toward rebuilding and assisting in the restoration of different parts of the Iraqi infrastructure. In the village of Taji Qada, there are two schools that have been rebuilt. As the schools were completed, the citizens held a street festival to help celebrate the opening of the two schools. Thoha school and another elementary school were the beneficiaries of restoration efforts by several different units of coalition soldiers. The soldiers have been successful in directing the efforts of workmen and Iraqi craftsmen in putting the two schools back together.

Members of the 25th Infantry, 2nd Stryker Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, and 1st Battalion have spent the last several weeks dealing with the classroom restoration and rebuilding. Local citizens are pleased that the efforts have been mounted because of funding from their own government; in the past most of the different repair and restoration efforts have had to be paid for by the Coalition.
As the community and region heals, the Iraqi Government is able to take care of its own people more effectively. And as this occurs, the pride and independent spirit of the community begins to exert itself.
