Baghdad Citizens Receive Humanitarian Aid
The Citizens of Baghdad were glad to receive supplies and Toys from a joint humanitarian effort. Iraqi soldiers led the effort and the supplies were provided by the coalition. When the coalition soldiers and Iraqi Security forces arrived at the Zainab Girls school in Hurriyah on June 12th, they were greeted by students and citizens with wide smiles and open arms. Over 60 members of the community and scores of school children were on hand to greet the soldiers as they delivered food, water, toys and school supplies.
The Hurriyah Iraqi police joined in along with the Iraqi National Army, and this was an operation that was led by Iraqi forces. Supplies were handed out by soldiers to a grateful group of schoolchildren and citizens. The squad of military police soldiers were cheerful, glad to be handing out supplies to citizens and taking a break from the daily security grind.
The mission for the day was to hand out school supplies, and toys to the citizens and local children. The soldiers for Iraqi are active in the security procedures in the region, and they have taken the lead in dealing with all security. But on this day, the process was handing out humanitarian supplies food and water.

This was a fantastic event for the Iraqi Police in that it allowed them to win hearts and minds, after being very visible in providing security successfully. It has been a measure that allows the Iraqi security forces to get closer to the citizens that they protect.
