Marines Give Hope With Lowered Violence

Iraqis Grateful For Assistance In Habbaniyah

The security in the region of Habbaniyah was terrible two years ago. Insurgents were in many of the houses in the different neighborhoods, and there were a lot of the streets that were unsafe to go down after dark. It was a violent and harsh place, and the citizens were distrustful of additional soldiers coming in, they didn’t believe that there would be a change for their lives.

All that has changed thanks to the hard work of both coalition soldiers, and the members of the Iraqi Security forces that have been trained by the Coalition. Members of both Iraqi Security forces, and members of the Coalition are now greeted with smiles and welcomed by members of the citizens of the region. Marines of the Regimental Combat Team 1, 24th Marine Regiment, and 2nd battalion have been some of the soldiers that have made the difference, and the citizens have begun to show their appreciation for the increased peace and prosperity.
