Joint Operations Participated In By Security Forces
Everyone knows the power of a military aerial assault that serves on the battlefield of Iraq. But for the first time, there has been an Air Assault that was mounted entirely by Iraqi Soldiers, with support primarily by Iraqi soldiers also. The coalition was on hand as a supporting participant, but they were pleased with the overall ability and professionalism that the air assault was conducted, and had nothing but praise for the Iraqi military teams.
“Its is a coordinated movement of soldiers from one place to another to complete a mission, and the Iraqi Air Force and Iraqi Soldiers have now proved that they can mount their own independent air assault missions,†said Captain Lindsey Melki.
Captain Melki is the captain of 3rd Infantry, 3rd Aviation, 4th Battalion, who supervised and watched the Iraqi Air assault.
The Coalition has a long history of successful air assaults, but this is the first time that an air assault has been planned, implemented and performed by Iraqi Security Forces in the leadership role.
