Ok im not exactly sure on how to word this but if i were to go do basic training and then after basic training is over go to college and do the NROTC program, would i still be able to become a 2nd lieutenant? or would i not get the commision for already being in the marines?

My son is currently a junior interested in joining the nat'l guard. He also wants to be in the marines. Can he join the nat'l guard as a junior (if I sign its ok) and still be in a ROTC program with the marines when he graduates? Please send any information you can. Thank you!

My son wants to become a Marine. I told hime to got ROTC and become a first Lieutenant and get an education while he is at it. He is an honor roll student in his sophmore year in high school. I am a widow and can not really afford to send him to college so the military is his best opportunity. How can he earn a scolarship.

@jacob shelly. teh Marine Corps is a department of teh Navy, so you will need to look for a Naval ROTC program. there are many in California, it being a coastal state. all i can name off the top of my head are UCLA, UC Berkley, U of San Deigo, and USC. you can go to http://www.cnrc.navy.mil/houston/NROTC.htm for more

Are there any colleges in california that offer ROTC for the Marine Corp or are all ROTC programs acceptable to any branch of the military?

I am a Freshman in High school and would like to join Navy/Marine ROTC in college. I would like to be an officer in the Marines. I have joined Air Force ROTC in High School because that is what my High School offers. My intention is to study history in college. I am in a state (New Jersey) that doesn't offcier Navy/Marine ROTC at any State University. Because of school/cost concerns I hope/need to attend an in-state college. What are my options?
