Navy Flight Line Enlisted Specialist

The United States Navy maintains personnel on the Flight line on Aircraft Carriers, and on shore stations around the world. Personnel that serve on the flight line deal with aircraft, and respond to the needs military aircraft and pilots have. When you work on the flight line or flight deck it has been compared to a case of chaos on speed. If you are into excitement and adrenaline, and have aviation or aircraft interest, then you may be well suited for this job. You may be assigned to work on the ground at a base on shore, directing F/A Super Hornet Aircraft into the air. Or you could be stationed on board one of the mighty US Military Aircraft carriers assisting with the landing and takeoff of the worlds most advanced technological aircraft. The Flight Deck Navy Aviation Specialist is the person that works to provide logistics, attack and defense support for the military Aircraft in the Navy Arsenal. You will provide detailed and in depth support to aircraft to make sure it is ready to take to the air at a moments notice. The aircrews and well trained ground crews are tasked to enable pilots and aircraft to achieve their mission and maintain fleet readiness. Some of the different tasks and duties performed by air craft enlisted flight line specialists include; working as flight mission aircrew upon direction, maintaining gear systems, related systems, brakes and catapult systems. You will inspect and maintain aircraft safety systems, perform aircraft and airframe inspection of fuselage, landing gear, and other parts of the aircraft, work to assist detection of aircraft, missiles and submarines electronically, and launch and retrieval of aircraft from an aircraft carrier and from the ground. The training for a Flight Line enlisted specialist begins with 9 weeks of Naval boot camp, followed by 12 weeks of Air flight line training. You will work to learn procedures and methods of flight launch and retrieval. You will learn the specifications of different Naval Aircraft, and learn how to provide support across a number of different aircraft. This is a job that is not for the faint hearted, and it involves being able to work around intense action and noise, for many hours a day. You will have to be a person with steady nerves
