Amarah Operations Conducted By Iraqis

Coalition Works At Support Role In Region

The Iraqi Security Forces have worked hard to get the overall security situation well in hand. They have worked to learn different methods and to secure different areas of the region near Amarah. Now, the Iraqi Security forces are focusing their efforts on pursuing and capturing any remaining members of the insurgency.

Iraqi Police and Soldiers have emerged as a cohesive and trained force that can now handle not only security, but also pro-active efforts to find and apprehend members of the Terrorist and insurgency. A great deal had changed over the last 12 months, to the point that the Iraqi Security Forces are becoming very accomplished at performing the mission. The government of Iraq has mounted a crack down which started on June 18th, and this includes working against illegal militias and criminal elements that want to start problems.

Navy Rear Admiral Patrick Driscoll talked with reporters recently in Baghdad and spoke about the successes and triumphs that the Iraqi Security Forces have enjoyed recently. He talked about how well they were doing their missions, and that it has became clear that the Iraqi Security Forces are not intimidated by Al Qaeda or terrorist elements any longer.

Admiral Driscoll has used Coalition forces in recent weeks in support of specific missions, and he has been impressed with how well the Iraqi Security Forces have worked to accomplish the mission. “The Iraqi Security Forces have graduated, they are able to keep the country safe once again,” said Driscoll.
