Coalition Supported Economic Effort Successful
The Soldiers of the Iraqi Security Forces and the Coalition have worked to establish a joint security location. They have started Joint Base Balad, and it marks the start of a series of new joint efforts to encourage progress in Iraq and throughout the provinces around the joint base.
There is an Industrial economic initiative being supported by the 78th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, of the Indiana Army National Guard. It is designed to support and assist the citizens and leaders of the Balad area to help start and create different businesses for citizens.
The center will serve to bring together local leaders, local citizens and those who seek to start businesses. With the assistance of the coalition and the Iraqi leadership, different members of the Iraqi community will be eligible for starter micro grants and loans. This will give a lot of opportunity to members and citizens that want to get started in business but who do not have the means.
Local Sheiks and leaders are enthusiastic about the program, it will allow people to start businesses and build the economy throughout the region. It will help the people to achieve true independence as well as helping make insurgents and terrorists un needed.
As long as the citizens have safety, and security and then have the ability to make a life for themselves, there is no opening for terrorists to weasel their way into the local economy.
