Iraqi Soldiers Electrify Baghdad Region

Joint Coalition Iraqi Forces Work Together Well

There are a lot of different types of construction sites, but the most recent in the Baghdad area is the effort to provide electricity and electric service throughout the Baghdad area. As part of this effort, streetlights are being installed throughout the Baghdad region. And to be even better, many of the streetlights are powered by solar power.

The Soldiers from the 4th Infantry division are working with members of the local community, and are working to put up the first four of nearly 100 solar powered streetlights.

Since Solar Energy powers the lights, they will not be a drain on the overall energy grid. The efforts at building infrastructure and installing the electric grid has been progressing swiftly, and the progress has been amazing. Because it takes time for the installation of the power lines and other trappings of electric service, the solar street lights are being installed to get light into service immediately, without delay.

The lights will make a lot of other progress too, as it is known that there are less crimes committed in areas that are well lighted.
