Khadairy District Receives Police Assist

Coalition Works To Support Iraqi Police Efforts

The efforts of the Joint Security Station soldiers have been positive, giving the police officers of the Khadairy District a helping hand with patrol functions, as well as assisting with overall security of the area. Their helping with the local police activity is actually part of the eventual full shifting of all security for the region to the Iraqi Security Forces and Police.

Members of the Regimental Combat Team 1, 6th Marine Regiment, 3rd Battalion, Company K have worked to provide transitional assistance, while the Iraqi Police have slowly taken on more and more responsibility for the overall security situation.

“We are not here permanently, but just to support them as the security shifts to their total responsibility,” said 1st Lieutenant Colistra, the Marine Regiment platoon commander.

“We are leaving our patrol station intact, and the Iraqi Police have already began to mount patrols from that location successfully. We are working with them every day, and they are progressing wonderfully,” said Lieutenant Colistra.

The Joint Security Station has now transferred from Coalition Command and control to control of the Iraqi Security Services. And it is moving forward in the patrol realm, also.

The mission to transfer and transition all of the Iraqi Security to Iraqi Forces is going forward full speed, and with the current tempo should be completed by the end of the year. To the average citizen, it is the status quo, their lives will be changing very little, but the patrols will be done entirely by the Iraqi Security Forces.
