U.S. Soldiers Give Blood Saving Iraqi Lives

Camp Taqaddum Holds Ongoing Blood Drive

Servicemembers are always willing to assist in giving blood, but in a battlefield situation the need for blood can be even more intense. The soldiers around Camp Taqaddum are vigilant, and have helped give Camp Taqaddum a reputation for a walking blood bank.

One day a call for blood of B Positive type came in, and the medical staff rushed around gathering people to donate, and as normal the members of the Camp Taqaddum stepped up.

Because of their involvement, a soldier was saved that was injured by an IED. This is just one example of the kind of positive assistance that the Camp Taqaddum soldiers are supplying by their blood donation enthusiasm.

“We are here to help, whether to save lives, eyesight or limbs,” said Lieutenant JG Lindsay Touchette.

LTJG Touchette is a surgical nurse with coalition forces. She is a member of the Reinforced First Supply Battalion.

The doctors work to provide damage control and to save lives, and they are pleased to receive the blood and support from the soldiers of the line. The soldiers are enthusiastic about helping and they give support in ways that only other soldiers can understand.

The soldiers are working hard, and they know that their assistance is valued. They have been there, some of them have suffered wounds on the battlefield, and they know the importance of having blood and other support when their comrades and Iraqi security forces are injured.

They are only too glad to participate and help.
