Coalition Further Trains Iraqi Security Forces
The operation in Iraq has become an overall comprehensive operation. There are Iraqi Air Force pilots that are working to fly missions, while on the ground Iraqi Soldiers are working to keep the peace and striving to keep important benchmarks maintained on the ground. The Iraqi Air Force 3rd Squadron has a number of Cessna 208 fleet of aircraft that are used for reconnaissance, surveillance and other missions.
The training that the Iraqi Soldiers have received have given them the confidence to perform whatever missions are asked of them. “The 3rd Squadron have made the transition from support to full Iraqi aviation missions,†said Air Force Captain Gordon Beran.
Captain Beran is the Iraqi Squadron Combat Aviation advisor.
The all Iraqi crews perform different maintenance tasks, and they launch and recover different aircraft. They work to maintain the level of squadron operations and they are becoming more and more proficient.
The Cessna 208 is a basic aircraft but it has a number of different advancements in the Iraqi Aviation Squadron such as advanced state of the art surveillance equipment.
