Soldiers working in Baghdad in joint operations are dealing with heat soaring to over 120 degrees in the daytime, but as the heat rises the cooperation and good spirits of the soldiers is very refreshing.
Iraqi National policemen work side by side with their coalition brethren, and they have been successful in bringing stability and security to the region. Despite stresses and difficult situations the soldiers have been calm and worked to support each other’s efforts.
Soldiers assigned to 30th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion Company D are working closely with ISF police officers in many different capacities. As they work both inside and outside the wire at FOB Loyalty they are showing concern for each other’s welfare, making sure that they are safe in the heat. It’s the small gestures that sometimes make the biggest impact, and the visits have positive repercussions of a positive nature.
“It is a morale booster for Iraqi Policemen to have US Soldiers stop and check in on them, in the 130 degree heat,†said Captain Clint Brooks.
