Supplies Crucial Link In Desert Life

Coalition Provides Resupply Lifeline For Region

Many people think of Iraq and they don’t realize that it is in fact a desert, and that all of the people that live there have to have most all of the things that they need to live hauled in. And since the fall of Saddam Hussein, the flow and the supply of nearly all of the goods and services to the region have been provided by or supported directly by the Coalition.

Coalition soldiers have logged literally thousands of miles in supply convoys to bring necessary food, water, supplies and medical gear, as well as nearly everything you can think of to the region. Soldiers of Task Force Warrior work to re supply Forward Operating Bases, and Patrol Bases that are located through out the length and breadth of the nation of Iraq.

The convoys in Iraq take on an eerie sight, soldiers are in full protective body armor and sit on top of large tanks and trucks as they rumble across the desert, providing security for the materials and vehicles in the convoy. These convoys can consist of one or two trucks or tens of trucks in a huge line.

One of the biggest threats that continue to threaten the well being of the convoys is the existence of the IED and explosives. But over time, even this has slowly become safer than earlier in Iraq.
