Marine Corps Works Closely With Iraqi Security Forces
The fight against enemy forces has been a long and hard fought battle in the Anbar Province. Insurgents have at several points came back into the region despite the best efforts on the part of the Joint Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition Soldiers to keep them out.
The Coalition commander for the east part of the Anbar Province has announced that the enemy has been neutralized, and that the Iraqi Security Forces have the situation and security in the province well in hand.
While there are still periodic upswings in violence, and occasionally a member of Al Qaeda is caught or discovered hiding in the province, for the most part the insurgency has been chased from the province, or its members captured or killed.
Marine Corps Colonel Lewis Craparotta is in charge of the forces for the Coalition in the Anbar Province, and is also the person responsible for handing off security to the Iraqi Security Forces.
According to Colonel Craparotta the security is secure enough that the control has been changed over to Iraqi Security forces and provincial security control.
Both Ramadi and Fallujah now are under Iraqi Security Forces Control, with the Coalition forces acting as backup and support. “Both cities have a lot of historical significance to insurgency efforts, but both are secure and safe now,†said Colonel Craparotta.

“We are watching the enemy very closely and working with Iraqi Security forces, but we are pleased to report the ISF have things securely in hand,†said the Colonel.
