Trust In Community Built By IP Training

Police And Security Training Yields Deep Neighborhood Ties

The overall efforts of the Coalition soldiers in Iraq in the Camp Taji region have been focused on getting the security under control. The secondary mission, which has become now the primary mission with the increased level of safety and security, has been to train and bring the Iraqi Security forces into a professional and prepared level of operations.

As the coalition has worked to train the Iraqi Police, the local citizens and members of the Iraqi community has observed and learned about both the Iraqi Police, and about their coalition trainers. The process of training Iraqi police officers has gained a lot of trust with the local citizens.

They were dubious about the overall intent of the Coalition at first, but then realized that both the Coalition and Iraqi forces were working to make their neighborhood safer.

Members of the Shat Al Taji IP station near Baghdad are all graduates of the coalition police academy and they have been vetted and proven their skills time and again in protecting the community.

The coalition soldiers have been excellent examples for their Iraqi counterparts. And their example has been one of patient training, as the Iraqi Security Forces have grown and gained in both experience and confidence.

The security command structure is now nearly all Iraqi in makeup, as the final areas in Iraq are starting to be successfully handed over to Iraqi Security Force leadership.

Members of the coalition are still on hand and act as support, but soon they will no longer be required even for that.
