Schools And Clinics Are Successfully Rebuilt
The village of Albu Hawa has been one of the sites that have been a major battle zone during the Iraqi war. Members of the insurgency and Al Qaeda have used small villages like Albu Hawa as bases for its operations. Because the village is in a rural location but reasonably close to a larger city such as Fallujah they are often used by terrorists as a base of operations.
The members of 6th Marines, 3rd Battalion have worked hard to patrol and search for terrorists and insurgent members. This house to house and building to building search has slowly worked to eradicate the presence of terrorists. Many of the local citizens have been in the past afraid to stand up and let authorities know about insurgents, as they believed that the commitment to get rid of the terrorists was simply not there.
Slowly this has changed, and it has been much safer in the region ever since. Clinics and schools, businesses and homes are being rebuilt, and the citizens have started to participate in dealing with keeping their community safe. This has been a process of rebuilding, and it has taken time for everyone to come to grips with what is needed to keep the community safe.
