The bonuses that are paid by the United States Navy tend to fall into three types as a rule, The selective conversion bonus, the prior service bonus, and the Navy Basic Bonus. Selective Conversion Bonus- This is the typical type of bonus that you will receive if you choose to reenlist after serving your first tour of duty or enlistment period. This bonus is paid when the Navy wants you to transfer to another job specialty, you can qualify for if you reach certain qualifications or if you have a specific skill that is needed. The Navy pays you a bonus for re enlisting and converting to a highly sought after job skill they need people in.
Prior Service Bonus- If you have ever served in the military, you can sometimes qualify for a bonus by joining the military at a later date.

Basic Bonus-This is bonus paid by the Navy to enlist in the Reserves or Active duty Navy. It can be very lucrative, up to $20,000 dollars that you will get if you join for six years. For enlisting for six years, it sometimes does not matter the specific job you choose.
