There are lots of different people in the Akashat region that need medical care. There has been a number of different medical effort that have been made in the last 18 months, but many times the people that most need medical care have not been able to attend, for one reason or another.

So the Coalition decided to take the medical services to the people in their homes. Members of the 2nd light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, corpsmen, Navy Surgeons, and other medical personnel from the Regimental Combat team 5 and 3rd Marine Air Wing worked together with different members of the Iraqi medical community.

More than 200 citizens were able to be treated, the cooperative doctors treated measles, the flu, and a number of other different diseases. The medical personnel were pleased at the response to the overall medical effort, and went house to house, to bring the medicine to the people.

The Akashat village is protected and safeguarded by the Iraqi Security Forces, and they worked hard to make sure the villagers were safe. But the Iraqi villagers needed medical assistance, so the ISF personnel and Iraqi police went to the coalition.
