Iraqi Security Forms Zone Of Lasting Protected Security In Rashid
One of the best signs of security and ongoing safety is when a security zone is created in an Iraqi neighborhood, and then the zone works. And keeps working. Such is the case with the recently created security zone formed in the Aamel community by the members of the Iraqi Security Forces.
The coalition was instrumental in setting up this zone, but the daily patrols, and support as well as the daily decisions that are involved in supporting this security zone are all benefits supplied by the well trained ISF forces.
At first, the security forces of the Iraq Army and Iraqi National police were out of their element, and they in many ways spun their wheels, not getting very much accomplished. But slowly, as they received better and better equipment, and became more skilled and trained, the zone of security began to be more successful.
The process of making Iraq secure has been just that, an ongoing process. At some point, in every community at each location in Iraq, the situation has grown and progressed as Iraq personnel become able to take over the security operations for themselves.

Now, there are just a few sites in Iraq that are not in Iraqi Security Force Direct Control. The ones that are still controlled by the Coalition are slowly being transitioned by joint cooperation, and then eventually all of Iraq will be patrolled for, and by, Iraqi citizens.
