Mountain Warriors US Marine Corps

The Marine Corps are the go to service for a large part of the amphibious and rapid response infantry to protect and defend the United States, and United States interests around the world. The United States Marine Corps trains personnel under many different types of environments and conditions, but none are as intense as their individual Mountain Warrior program held in California. They train and learn to survive in literally sub zero type temperatures, and train in the United States at the 10,000-foot elevation high in the mountains.

The Marine Corps Mountain Training facility is located in California and it serves as the premier facility to train soldiers in what it takes to survive as a Mountain Warrior Marine. The School is located in California in the National Toiyabe Forest. At times it can snow up to 8 feet deep at the training school, and it can get down to 20 degrees or colder at many points during the year. The Marine Corps Mountain Training Facility was first establishing in the year 1951, and its intent was to provide soldiers with mountain training and cold weather preparation for those that were bound to fight in North Korea during the Korean War. Located on California Highway 108, in a place called Pickle Meadow the Mountain Training facility command is about 21 miles from Bridgeport, California. It is also about 100 miles away from Reno, Nevada. The training MMTC center is thought to be the training facility that is premier in providing equipment, personnel and training to use in mountain and cold weather battles and mountain operations. The U.S. Marine Corps has an agreement with the U. S. Forest Service to use the area to train and the training facility is actually located directly in the middle of the National Forrest. It is a training center for United States military people and International personnel who come to America to train in Mountain fighting, survival techniques and cold weather operations.

The MMTC Mountain training Center is at 6,762 feet of elevation. It features regular schedule courses of training that are some of the most challenging in the entire Marine Corps training arsenal, training in various adversarial, wet, freezing conditions. Often successful graduates from the Marine Corps Mountain Training Warrior Course teach members and Servicemembers in other military services different methods and procedures learned firsthand at MMTC.
