Police Graduate Iraqi Training Class

New Graduates Will Assume Training Recruit Duties

The ability of Iraqi police to train its own personnel has been up to now fledgling, and not really well defined. There has been some limited training that has gone on, but for the most part it has been pretty simple, not in depth police procedures and other materials.

Recently, the Coalition got together with senior members of the Iraq Police Force and decided it was time to teach some of the best members of the Iraqi senior national police force to be able to train their own recruits. They set out on a program that literally is geared to teach the long term, experienced members of the Iraqi police, some of which were the first ones to go through the coalition police training, how to train their own personnel.

It was an effort that went very well. The senior Iraqi police officers were enthusiastic, and upbeat about learning how to be trainers, and were flexible enough to learn as they were going.

This allowed members of the coalition the ability to tailor much of the training to the individual, some needed diplomacy and knowledge how to reinforce concepts, others were very diplomatic and good with people but were not as knowledgeable about the specific police methods and tactics that they learned months ago from their Coalition trainers.
