After Bombing Essential Services Stressed
The overall security has done really well in Iraq since the beginning of the Surge last year, but there have been the occasional setback. Recently there were a number of attacks on different ISF locations around Iraq, and one of these was a car bomb.
A car bomb exploded in North Baghdad on August 3rd, that injured 7 people and killed 4 residents. Despite this, the reaction to the situation was very strong, both from the local citizens and from the Iraq Security forces.
The car bomb was a tragedy that in the past would have caused people to be especially wary and scared. Not so this time. The members of the local citizens, along with the Sons of Iraq, and Iraqi Security forces sprang back and immediately began repairs.
Different buildings and businesses that were damaged by the blast, as well as power lines were began to be repaired immediately. The different members of the Suleikh community that were attacked began to work very hard to repair the damage.
This has been an excellent example of how the community now takes ownership for their neighborhoods. In the past, they tried to keep their head down, and were not willing to get involved.
But because of the new community pride, the ability of the Iraqi Security Forces to maintain security has grown by a large amount. The community of Suleikh and Adhamiyah have both been shining examples of positive cooperation between the ISF forces, and members of the community.
