One of the main projects in Iraq has been to rebuild the local businesses that have been damaged with all of the battles. It has been the focus for much of the coalition effort because the main security responsibility has been handed to the Iraqi Security Forces.
The efforts to reconstruct the Iraqi nation has brought members of the Coalition, the Iraqi Security Forces, and the local Iraqi community together, working cooperatively to reach common construction goals.
A large number of schools and medical clinics have been restored, and the positive goodwill generated has been a good and healing thing. The different groups learn about each other by working in close contact. Social cultures and viewpoints are exchanged, and it is a healthy interaction.
The rebuilding and reconstruction have been successful in supporting the natural stabilization of the Iraqi nation. As more and more projects are completed successfully, the growth and stability of the nation increases as well.

Recently, Coalition engineers and workmen from the Umm Qasr area came together to begin a cooperative effort to construct an Iraqi Coast Guard operating base, to give a port base for the Iraqi Coast Guard at the Umm Qasr facility.
