The Military and the US Army employ and train their own medical personnel, and one of the most intensive and rewarding military careers is the Radiology and X Ray enlisted specialist. You will serve in support of military medical operations, and help by providing skilled diagnostic ability to medical personnel. It is a health care position that will give you the ability to come in contact with a wide variety of military Service personnel, as well as working with military medical professionals and being part of the Military medical diagnostic team. You are a health care professional that assists doctors in detecting injuries, breaks, tears or bone and tissue damage, as well as a number of illnesses. While not a licensed doctor you will be part of the diagnostic medical team, by providing your skills in obtaining pictures and X ray photos of injured personnel and military people who need to be X Rayed and to have diagnostic radiological photos of them performed for medical use.
Working in the Army Health Care Services team, you will perform different medical and X Ray operations to help obtain photos and X Rays that doctors and medical personnel can use in their diagnosis. The specialist in Xray technology and Radiology is responsible primarily for operating portable and fixed radiology equipment, as well as overseeing and supervising a number of activities in the Radiological field. If you enjoy working with people, and are good with detailed work, you may be well suited for this job. As a member of the Army medical team you will use a variety of state of the Art equipment well suited for medical diagnosis. As a radiological operator you will be responsible for developing radiographic film, both in automatic processing and modern digital equipment. You will work to transport patients to and from radiology areas, escorting them to your X Ray area and back to their doctor, and work toward preparing adjusting and assembling materials, instruments and Xray equipment, interpreting, reading and examining physician orders.
Learning to become an Army Radiological and X Ray tech is not for the meek, it is a job skill that requires a lot of intense work. You will work hard and study almost a year of intense training where you will study and learn with radiological equipment. Part of the time you will spend studying in the Field, and part of the time you will spend in the classroom.

You will apply electric, mechanical and radiation protective measures, maintain daily log books and ledgers, as well as routing patients in various administrative areas, and being responsible for dissembling and assembling shelters and radiological equipment.
