Coalition Sponsors Youth Soccer Tour

Positive Interaction Helps With Security Ongoing

There are a lot of different issues that have gotten better in Iraqi, but one of the most rewarding is the youth scene. The coalition has sponsored a “Hope Youth Tour” and supported several different youth sports teams that are traveling around in the region.

Members of the 30th Military Transition Team also in addition to sponsoring some different youth teams fielded an adult team for some friendly soccer. They played the Ugandan Guard Force team, the 30th Iraqi Army Brigade team, and also in a game against a team from the Najaf Provincial Reconstruction team.

There was a visiting team from Texas A&M that was helping support the troops that also played the soldiers from the 30th Military Transition team.

In overall friendly soccer play, the 30th IA Iraqi team won their game 5-1, and they received England Soccer jerseys.

This is a healthy upbeat type of interaction, and the youth teams cheered on the Coalition, and it has served to bring the different groups back together. It has done in small ways better than anything else and it has helped heal rifts between different groups.
