Mahmudiyah Qada Receives Help For Farmers
One of the things that have helped rebuild the different farming regions in Iraq has been support from the coalition. The coalition provides micro grants and financial support for farming, and seed money and supplies to help kick start the different farming endeavors.
In a second Chicken give away, the coalition has brought 5,000 little chicks to different farmers in the Mahmudiyah Qada. They are giving six farms every two weeks 5,000 tiny chicks to rebuild their chicken stocks, and help them to grown their farms back to the level of production that they once had.
The chicken distribution cycle is consistent, and will continue to provide chickens on a 45 day cycle. It takes about 45 days for the cycle to complete, and some of the farms that qualified for the first chicken distribution may soon qualify for another distribution cycle.
Chicken prices often go up during the approaching Ramadan Holiday, and the chicken farmers in Iraq are excited about the possibility of making a good profit.
One of the contributions to the possible profit is that the farmers that have been sponsored by the coalition have all pledged to put 40 percent of their profits back into their Bashaeer Al Keyeer Poultry Cooperative, or their local farmers cooperative.
