Coalition Works To Reduce IED Incidents

Improvised Explosives Down In Last Two Months

The security of the Iraqi Nation has improved, and there are a lot of different groups of explosives still out there, that have not been discovered. Slowly, the explosives are coming to the forefront, and being discovered. With the help of the Coalition each of the groups of explosives that come forward are safely defused and made safe.

Crime scene investigations of past bombing sites are also starting to be come part of the course. They are able to identify the explosives used in different bombing situations, and this has helped solve different criminal bombing situations that would not have been solved in the past.

Soldiers from the 3rd BCT combat team, 4th Infantry, MNF forces have worked along with members of the Iraqi Security Forces to try and make safe explosives that are in the public domain.

There are a lot of explosives in the countryside, many explosives are in hidden caches that have been abandoned, and are often forgotten. As they come to light, then they have to be rendered safe. The Iraqi Security Forces have done well, they are able to handle some of the situations themselves, and then at other times they are necessary to turn the site over untouched to the coalition.

This has helped to solve the ongoing problem with Explosives. Now, slowly the Iraqi Security forces are becoming better trained, and able to deal with more of the explosive issues on their own.
