Abu Ghraib Joint Cooperation Center Opened

Many people have heard the name Abu Ghraib and think immediately of the scandal of the detainee center, but it also is a place where members of the Iraqi Security Forces, the Iraqi Government, and the Coalition have worked to create the Abu Ghraib Joint Coordination Center.

It is a center manned by the Iraqi Police, and members of the Iraqi Army and the Coalition. The center is designed to serve as a coordination hub for economic, tribal, emergency and civil issues, and will host weekly meetings to help solve regional and local issues.

It is a sign of the cooperation, friendship and shared goals, and it is being successful in keeping Al Qaeda from getting restarted in the area.

The Council that supervises the Joint Coordination center has been successful in joining together the different groups of people and different forces. Many people would have not felt that the Iraqi Government, Iraqi Security Forces, and the Coalition would be able to work together as successfully as they have.

Now, it has been a grand example of what is possible when different groups choose to work together. The opportunity for creating good things has been what the Joint Coordination Center has been all about.
