ISF Operation Leros Works Security Effort

Iraqi Army Soldiers Succeed In Inspection And House Clearing

As the security situation in Iraq has continued to improve, the efforts to make the transfer of responsibility to Iraqi Forces has been complete. The professionalism and confidence that the members of the Iraqi Security Forces have been able to exhibit is a direct reflection on the training and support given by the Coalition.

Recently the Iraqi Army has mounted Operation Leros, and it has been successful in performing house to house searches, and screening operations. These have led to the discovery of several large caches of weapons, as well as a number of different insurgency suspects.

The efforts by the coalition have been as a support, and they will continue to support operations by the ISF forces. The Coalition has been pleased with the response and professionalism that the ISF forces has grown into, and the success of capturing weapons and uncovering suspects has been well received.

In the past, searches house to house has been difficult because the citizens were wary of the coalition. But now that the searches and house to house inspections are being conducted by Iraq security forces and members of the Sons of Iraq, the response has been much better.
