For many years the United States Army used a system that went back over 30 years, called the Weaponeer. It is a good system but it has been in use for more than 30 years and it is time for a new method of training Army Riflemen. The new training system has been chosen and has been slowly been implemented to replace the current system. The new system is called the EST 2000, and it is scheduled to replace the current system in training Army Riflemen. It is a system that stresses education and marksmanship for the new generation of Army warriors, and it is a system that has been specifically created to aid in improving the overall quality of Army Marksmen and Riflemen. Members of the Army 58th Infantry Regiment have been the first group to use the new training system, and it is proving itself to have a great teaching aid. Soldiers and their trainers are able to identify and work on specific issues in how they fire rifles and learn target firing and target identification issues. Basic warrior targeting skills, and Army Rifle Marksmanship are very important and in an era of the War on Terror, it is especially important to have soldiers that can shoot straight. The old method, the Weaponeer has been used for scores of Army trainees and has been an effective and efficient means of correcting marksmanship problems, but there are specific problems that have caused a large number of Army personnel to struggle with targeting and accuracy. The New Rifle targeting and marksmanship program is being successful and the EST 2000 looks to try and solve some of these shortfall areas. The new targeting and marksmanship targeting system has been long overdue the overall setup of basic rifle marksmanship has not changed since the Weaponeer system was first implemented in the time around 1973. It has been working well, and the students and the Army instructors both like the system, there are specific mental steps to make sure that proper squad marksmanship and rifle training is being observed, and the EST 2000 promises to make instruction and training easier. There are a number of other different Army training methods that are successful, but The EST 2000 system is seen as a big improvement in basic rifle marksmanship, the first large leap forward since the 1970’s. The system helps the human instructors to correct specific rifle targeting issues and to correct areas that new Army Servicemembers struggle with as they learn effective rifle marksmanship.
