Coalition Trains Kirkuk Civil Service

New Corporation Trains And Employs Citizens

The official announcement of the new Kirkuk Civil Service organization was held recently. The commencement ceremony was held at the Kirkuk Convention Center on August 11th.

The Civil Service program is similar to the program that was held in the 1930’s Civilian Conservation Corps that was set up by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, to fight unemployment at the time of the great depression. It is a 12 month program that is funded by Coalition and Iraqi forces and it is expected that the citizens provided by the Civil Service program will allow over 500 Iraqi citizens to be employed from four different districts, in over 20 different villages in the Kirkuk province.

The Civil Service group has given a previous application process that gathered 250 former members from the community, as well as members of the Sons of Iraq.

These citizens will be able to be screened, and serve as workers that can be trained for a variety of different tasks and jobs. The program has generated already nearly 100 different jobs for local citizens to participate in, in teaching and administration.

As a clear indicator of the different security gains in the area, the Iraqi Security forces can demonstrate that they are able to support the efforts to provide employment.
