American Soldiers Support Diyala Security

Reports Indicate Security Working Well

The security in Diyala province has been slowly increasing to the point that the citizens of the region have began to become stakeholders in the neighborhood. The success is due in no small part because Iraqi Forces and Coalition soldiers have worked diligently to create a safe and secure zone in the region.

The operations in the province are ongoing, and they have resulted in violence levels that are consistently dropping. Over the last two years the growing partnership has increased between the coalition, Iraqi Security forces consisting of both the Iraqi Army and the National police, and the members of the community.

Timely information and intelligence to soldiers has been one large part of the success, and this has been because of the citizens have come to trust the ISF forces. Because the coalition and the Iraqi forces have been working together as well as they have, the citizens have grown to trust both ISF forces and the coalition troops.

The amnesty program that the Iraqi government has begun has been one element of the success. As Citizens are rehabilitated, they work to support the efforts of the new Iraqi security forces, and this leads to a spirit of cooperation and teamwork that has not been found in the past.

The groups of citizens that support the joint security efforts has also been a benefit. The Sons of Iraq has been a huge help, and been one of the best sources of recruits when police and Army officials look to recruit new members.
