Daily Coalition And ISF Security Patrols Yield Positive Friendships
The Iraqi Army has been patrolling the Sadr City District of Baghdad over the last several months, and these patrols have begun to bear fruit. As the citizens of the region in and around Sadr City observe the efforts of the ISF security forces, backed up by the Coalition, they have began to trust and take a vested interest in the entire community.
Many citizens have been slow to gain trust after years of corruption and living for decades under the corrupted rule of Saddam Hussein. But now that Saddam is gone, and their very own trained security forces are working to guard their cities and villages, and to keep the terrorists and insurgency out, the citizens have began to relax.
As they grow to trust more, the amount and the quality of citizen tips and information have drastically increased. Now, citizens regularly come forward with news of hidden stashes of weapons, or to report new people in the area that are not known or do not belong.
This has made the efforts of the ISF forces a lot easier, and it has fostered a sense of community trust and understanding. This cooperation has extended, not only in security issues, but also in general community actions.

Now, often when a patrol of Iraqi Army or National Police make their way through the communities, they are greeted by children, or citizens with huge smiles. The members of the community have began to realize that their security forces are not the enemy but their own countrymen, and in many cases they are serving unselfishly to help keep things safe.
