It is a program designed to allow Veterans from the Armed Forces to participate in a study and work designated program, and it cannot be accessed unless you are a veteran. It provides a special VA work study allowance and gives you the opportunity to earn while you learn.
There are several factors that are involved in the Work Study VA program. You will work at the university or college that you attend, likely in the department of Veterans Affairs. Sometimes the university or college that you attend will pay some of the wages, and the Veterans Program will pay the rest. The school employs you as a worker for the Veterans Affairs program, and you work as a work study student employee. It is similar to regular work study employment but it is different in that Veterans Work study is reserved for Veterans only. As a VA work-study student you will have an opportunity to be paid in advance if you so desire. The VA will sometimes pay up to forty percent of the total hours awarded to you in the work-study contract in advance. If you are a Veteran with a thirty percent disability or more then you will receive the first priority. All other priority for the program is available depending on the school or institution where attend classes, and the number of positions available at your school.

You can work at sites for the Veterans Affairs department sometimes that are not located at your school, it all depends on the needs of the VA department program at the school where you attend, and the needs of the Veterans Affairs program and the number of VA work study positions available.
