Iraq War Disabled Vets To Receive Funds

Iraq War Disabled Vets To Receive FundsAmerican Legion And Others Give Gift Funds

With a new program in the works from the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, working in league with the American Legion, disabled veterans will be eligible for funds.  Each of approx one thousand disabled veterans who served in the Afghanistan or Iraqi conflicts will be eligible to receive five hundred dollars, no strings attached.

The money was presented to the American Legion in the form of a check.  Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes raised these funds to show their appreciation for all that disabled veterans have given to their country.

“The money does not have to be used for anything specific, and the money is given with no strings attached,” stated spokeswoman Ramona Joyce.  Speaking on behalf of the American Legion organization, Ms. Joyce also said that all administrative costs would be absorbed by the Legion.

Funds will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

Starting immediately, these money grants will be available from now until May 1st, 2008, or until the money runs out.  “These money grants are just a small way of showing our appreciation, a small token for all the sacrifices that have been made by so many of our American Service People in Uniform” stated Thomas Palma.  Mr. Palma is the general manager for the Coalition to Salute.  “We were able to raise a great deal of money from supporters and caring people, but we don’t have the means that the American Legion does to effectively distribute the money,” said Palma.
