Coalition Doctors Give Iraq Surgeons Medical Training
One of the most exciting new events taking place in Iraq is the training of medical personnel by Coalition Surgeons and Doctors. Part of helping Iraq achieve true success and independence is having the ability to perform health care, including surgery, for their own citizens.
No longer will Iraqi citizens be just patients in operating rooms, now they will be fully qualified doctors that will be eventually able to participate in surgery.
Lieutenant Commander John A. Lynott is an orthopedic surgeon that is attached to TQ Surgical, the Camp Taqaddum Surgery Unit, 1st Supply Battalion, and 1st Marine Logistics Group.
They are partnered with Iraqi Medical Personnel at Camp Habbaniyah, and they are working to train Iraqi medical personnel in the operating room, and in diagnostic facilities.
This is a new development, and it is proving successful. The Iraqi medical personnel that is receiving training are all highly motivated, and exciting at being able to receive top rate state of the Art training.
It is the first time that they have taken Iraqi Doctors into the surgery with them, allowing them to scrub in and learn valuable medical procedures and techniques.
Iraqi Army Major Tahseen Muallah is a medical officer from Camp Habbaniyah, attached to the Iraqi Army, and he assisted in removing fragmentation from the leg of the Iraqi Policeman.

“Anything we do to help build their medical capacity is an excellent use of our facilities and time,” said Brigadier General Robert R. Ruark.
General Ruark is the commanding general of 1st Marine Logistics group.
