Fallujah Region Bridge Reopens For Traffic
One of the recent successes in the Bagharra region has been the restoration of the Thar Thar Canal Bridge. It was damaged during some of the fierce fighting that occurred about 18 months go near Fallujah.
Local sheiks and government leaders, and tribal leaders have worked together to reopen the bridge, and the coalition has been providing much of the manpower and finances to work on the bridge. Regimental Combat Team 1, along with other members of the MNF force –Baghdad have worked to rebuild the bridge.
Until the bridge was rebuilt, local citizens had to travel for five hours to the next closest place to cross the canal. Insurgents and terrorists took explosives and in the form of an IED blew up much of the bridge over a year ago, and since then the people of the region have suffered.
The bridge is called the Salem Bridge, and it is an important link to connect the two sides of the Canal, as well as allowing people an easier method of crossing the bridge.

Bagharra is a remove region with a lot of open desert and it is home to various farmers who work to earn their living by farming and raising different livestock. The passage route over the rebuild Salem bridge allows supplies and farming needs to be met.
The rebuilt bridge also allows farmers to export their livestock and farm products, including produce and other crops to other cities on the far side of the bridge.
