Air Traffic Controllers Professionally Guide Aircraft
Camp StrikerÂ
The care in making sure that the aircraft that take off, land, and maneuver the skies is a job not taken lightly. You just cannot have too many eyes watching out, this is true for crews, pilots, and for the controllers who shepherd them across the skies, the Air Traffic Controllers.
Traffic Control, routing and safety is the sole mission of Company F, Battalion two, and Third Aviation Regiment. Their sole mission is to ensure safe passage by providing control and command of airspace, guiding aircraft in and out of the region, and to and from the flight line.
One unit, Falcon Ground, is positioned on the Combat Aviation Flight line. They monitor aircraft that is returning, and leaving on various flights. They also monitor and advise helicopters as they make their way to and from the taxi line, and to the flight takeoff pads.
Pilots continually need to know what the situation is, and what vehicles may be coming or taking off around them.
The Control Towers offer a complete three hundred sixty degree view. Through their windows and screens, they see the total set up and give information and directions to aircraft. The Air Traffic Controllers re route, direct and manage aircraft during landings and take offs.
Tower Staff works diligently to prevent injuries to aircraft, injuries to personnel, and to reduce inefficiency and time wasted.
Pilots contact the Tower prior to entering tower airspace, about three miles out. Controllers ensure the airspace is clear. With tower help, pilots can relax. With all the activity, relying on ones own eyes would be dangerous and create havoc.
