Army Bests Navy In Pacific Grid Battle

Army Bests Navy In Pacific Grid BattleTorii Station Game Last Saturday Continues Service Rivalry

You would think that the way the two teams went at the Annual Gridiron Football game that the Army-Navy Football trophy was made out of solid gold.

Army won the annual Okinawa Flag football game for the 4th year in a row

Allan Grinter, a member of the victorious Army squad tossed six successful touchdown passes, as Army pushed ahead of Navy in the 40-21 victory played at Torii Station last Saturday.  Grinter has played in the last two annual games leading the Army team to victory each time.

“It is a team game.  It is not only about me,” said Grinter.  “I love that I get to represent the Army.  Its similar to my time when I played football in High School, when I get the chance to play I take it, gladly” said Ginter.

Twenty-nine year old Grinter, who is from Russellville Kentucky, was the man of the hour in the contest that encompasses an area from Camp Zama in Japan to Naval Base Guam.  Staff Sgt Grinter was playing on an Army Team, one of four area Pacific Flag Football Games played last Saturday.

Army won all of the contests except for one.  Navy had a single victory in its win 28-0 against the Army National Guard in Guam itself at Blue Jacket Field.

U.S. Army Command Japan Sgt Major William Franklin stated “this is always a great event, a fun time for all”  “We work and fight together, and do our jobs well, but this is just a game to be enjoyed by all,” said Franklin.
